So many stories. So many lives touched by the work of Tupac Shakur.
It was his birthday, June 16th, and there was a bash at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Georgia, USA (www.tasf.org). I had the honor of being a part of it, and as a result, I learned so much about perseverance by just listening to the stories of those who came from all over the US to celebrate.

Big up to New Orleans, Virginia, Mississippi, Florida, New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and any other places I missed… oh, and Toronto!
“O Canada” is what they called me. Surprisingly, I was the only international visitor.
Vern and Carlos were exceptional at making the birthday bash a success. I know this because I saw the magical sparkle in the eyes of the audience. Tupac’s legacy lives. I wonder if they realize how special Tupac is to the entire planet…
Along with the Birthday bash, I also had the opportunity to present my Musical Workshop to Pac’s Kids. It was fun, and they are so talented!

I hope to continue working with the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts.
One Love!

Back in 2005, the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts had it's grand opening in Atlanta, Georgia USA.
Tupac Shakur was a troubled youth who expressed his realities to the world through poetry, music, and film. Tupac became the biggest and most influential rap musician of all time, relating to those who haven't had their voices heard. Tupac was telling their stories and provoking society to take a close look into the corners of the world that are frequently ignored. Tupac Shakur was gunned down in Las Vegas, September 1996.
The Tupac Amaru Shakur Arts Center is an extension of the slain rapper's goal to uplift young people to their highest potential. Every summer the Center hosts a camp that teaches expression through the arts.
With the help of my husband and local Toronto talent, we put on a fund-raising show that allowed me to help with the camp and it's grand opening when Mrs. Afeni Shakur-Davis (Tupac's Mother) invited me to in '05.
Tomorrow I am returning to the TAS Center, and this time, I am representing Canada's children and youth. Wednesday is Tupac's 39th birthday and there will be a huge celebration. Also, I am going to present my musical workshop that examines assumptions about music creation and music culture. The TAS Center has grown and it will be nice to see how it has developed. I will bring them Canadian stories, and bring back American ones. Today's young will be tomorrow's leaders, and since America and Canada are close brothers, it makes sense to work together in building that future.
Throughout the week I will be posting updates and photos on Facebook and Twitter.
You are invited to join me on this journey!
