Toronto
native “Rosanne Howell is the quintessential talent of what can only be
described as the art deco era of popular music. As a student of the blues, jazz
and funk she has emerged as an artist redefining her craft”. A veteran of the studio environment,
Rosanne’s compositions and vocals, as a singer and speaker, can be heard
in numerous music, film and television productions, including CBC’s “Amigo and
Me” as the opening theme singer, and while a Humber music student, as a
featured artist in Larry Green’s Jazzology radio show on JazzFM.
A
vocalist with an eclectic taste and curiosity for music as a whole, Rosanne is
also a composer, songwriter, and producer working with rap artists like Big
Syke (one of Tupac Shakur’s Outlaws); DJ’s like DJ Versatile; recording
engineers/producers like Peter D Hudson; pop and jazz artists like Evelyne Datl
(piano/keys), Greg Donskov (drums/percussion), and Andrew Roorda (bass), who
now make up her ensemble.
She has
performed in many of Toronto’s clubs, and has taught music technology and vocal
music privately. She is currently
a freelance recording engineer and technician in Humber College’s music
program, the Royal Conservatory of Music, and a number of other places. Respectful members of the entertainment
community have commended Rosanne’s music and singing, “she can transform the
most common, not to mention, painful experiences into gold. And she has an innate gift of taking
two seemingly opposite ideas and joining them together in a way that has
everyone scratching their heads and saying, ‘of course that makes sense, but
how the heck did you get there?’”
